How To Live to 103

Every few months I go visit my dear friend Ruth Kobin to see what she's been up to. As I entered her apartment last week, she rolled out her exercise and greeted me with a big hug. After a quick lunch we got down to business. We played an hour's worth of Bananagrams and Ruth beat me every time. I asked Ruth what motivates her to stay so strong and she replied that she loves her life and her family. Check out some of her inspiring words below:

I have been active my whole life and I'm not going to stop now. I have to live up to the expectations of my daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters.They say I am their role model.I don't
always feel like a role model, but I try and not let a day go by without doing something. On a good day I do 40 minutes, bad days 10. But i do something everyday even if I don't feel like it. I roll out the mat and incorporate Pilates with some physical therapy. The only thing I miss out being this old is going to the ballet and theater all alone. It's too hard to get a taxi when the crowds let out.

So glad to see Ruth again! She looks lovely and cheerful as ever. She doesn't know it but she's my role model too.

As I am on the eve of visiting my 89 year old Grandmother to say my goodbye's to her, this really hits home. My Mom and I were just saying we were angry in a way with her, she never ate properly, she rarely did any form of exercise and she smoked for a good part of her life. If she had done what this lovely woman has done, and also followed what her doctors told her to do etc she would be, or would have the chance to be still vital and have more years ahead of her. Mom and myself are fighting back and fighting period to not go down the same road... so this lovely ladies wise words as I said truly inspiring and hit home. Thanks for sharing!

103 is outrageous but a pretty awesome feat. It's definitely true what they say that one should keep moving even after retiring. Kudos to all the people who could even reach 90 or more.

Just look at the sparkle in her eye!! That's all the proof I need right there that living a healthy life generally results in living a long life...keep it up, dear Ruth!! You certainly ARE a role model!!

I love elderly women who take care of themselves, she sets such a positive vibe! I should adopt her as a role model as well each time I am to lazy to go to the gym.
