"The Real Secret is Being in Love With life and Realizing What you Have.”

I often get asked how the Advanced Style ladies stay so beautiful and active as they age. I have learned over the past three years that it is important to stay interested in the world, to never stop learning, and constantly be inspired by new things. I asked 80 year old Joyce what her secret was and she responded, "The real secret is being in love with life and realizing what you have." Joyce worked in the magazine industry for many years and has never given up her passion for beauty and elegance. She says,"The older you get the more elegance you want."

As you know I have been working on a book of my photos which will be out April 17, 2012. Some of the ladies that I have spent more time with, like Joyce, will have special featured sections. I will share extra photos and some of their most inspiring quotes. If you would like to Pre-order the Advanced Style book and see more of these wonder women, you can find it on Amazon HERE. I don't say this enough, but I appreciate and share your comments with all of the ladies that I feature, so thank you for all of the wonderful feedback!

I love how beautiful and elegant this woman is, and how well all the pieces of this outfit fit together. The sophisticated black dress, paired with the charming gold earrings and belt then... boom! The purple gloves and the stunning handbag. Pure class. This is how I want to be when I am this age.

Another word to mention how much I adore Advanced Style - it is my favourite blog to read.

I think, when you get older, you maybe learn to let go of what other people think too...

I agree with Joyce! I never understand women who feel bored. Life is so interesting, with so much to learn just to stay current!
Always a joy to visit! Good luck with the book!

She has the most fabulous skin -- and I love the coronet braid. As someone who is in the early stages of greying and who has extremely long hair (mid-thigh), it's lovely to see women who have kicked the cliche "shear your locks and mourn your lost youth!" attitude. She looks absolutely stunning.

She is gorgeous! I wish I knew her beauty routine. I love your blog and have pre-ordered your book. Can't wait!

Yes she does have the most fabulous skin. Please ask her what kind of cream she uses or moisterizer. Elegance is what she is. It would be awesome if when I reach this age my skin would look like hers. Thanks Ari and I went to pre-order my book, case closed. Tee hee. I look forward to receiving it next year. Take care and thanks for providing us with such lovely ladies.

My jaw is on the ground. I want to know this woman's beauty secrets. How is it that at 80 she has no hanging skin on her neck and no jowls? Her skin is perfect. Please interview her and get her secrets. What does she eat? Does she do facial exercises? Or is this a photoshopped picture? I am 46, and my skin does not look at good.

I am so looking forward to Ari's book, but I wish Joyce would write her own book, too! I would love to know how she keeps that gorgeous skin virtually wrinkle-free. She MUST have some secrets -- skin that good isn't just genetics!!!

This is one of my most favorite blogs to read. I am so inspired by each woman you shoot and the way they are fearless fashionistas. Thank you for sharing these beautiful women with us. I want so much to be like these women from now until I die. You do fabulous work.

Joyce is radiant, but it takes more than love of life to make one look like this at 80. PLEASE be honest with us, Ari.

Joyce is wearing many things that are on trend currently though not all are new, which shows an ongoing devotion to style, as does her use of cosmetics and grooming -- her eyebrows are perfect beyond compare!!

She is a very beautiful woman who has looked after herself and her skin wonderfully.

I've ordered your book some time ago. I'll bet you have a lot of pre-orders by now!

It seems evident to me that she is loaded with money... and have a great adress book... loaded with fantastic plastic surgeons names!
I would prefere to see some same age "commoner" woman's photos, just not to feel too depressed comparing myself to her. I love anyway her style :)

She is ravishingly beautiful. Her long hair reminds me of my great aunt who had the longest grey locks. This lady is one of a kind. I like her!!

She looks fantastic, but I think she may have had a little help in maintaining her lineless skin and perfectly shaped nose. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but people should admit it if they have had some help. She would be equally as great looking with some lines, and being up front about it would help other women to decide if they want to get some help in the anti- aging department.

Another beautiful, elegant older woman.

Thank you for introducing them, to us.

Gentle hugs,
"May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!"

Excellent advice from a truly stunning woman. As other comments have pointed out, she has beautiful skin. Whether it's from good genes and skincare, or if she's had some help from a plastic surgeon, she certainly doesn't look "overdone". If I could look like that at 80, I'd go for it.

I just stumbled upon your blog and I love it. I'm 30 and can't wait to grow old. I hope I look as amazing as these women do. This post in particular, Joyce, she's beautiful! Will you also add beauty regimen's to your blog. Ask them what they do to keep their skin glowing at their fine age. I'm SUPER CURIOUS! Especially Joyce, what is her skin care regimen??
