100 Year Old Ruth Says,"Celebrate everyday and don't look at the calendar."

Ruth and I met up, the other day, to take some more photos for my book. She will be 100 years old next month and is excitedly awaiting her birthday trip to Bermuda. She lives by this motto," Celebrate everyday and don't look at the calendar." If you haven't already, check out the video below.

Holy Cow! I guess I better learn Pilates. I'd like to look that good at 80! And the ++ attitude makes it soooo great.

She looks great and has a wonderful philiosophy. I loved the second shot when you first posted it and love the new shot, too. Beautiful butterfly print scarf!

A 100th birthday trip to Bermuda? Is that not wonderful?!
It reminds me of the spiffily dressed 92 year old I met standing in line at the passport office a few years back. I went home and said to my husband, " Today I saw what I want to be. When I am 92 years old, I want to still be worrying about getting my passport renewed." I will never forget her. This was in Toronto, but she could just as easily have been any one of the NY ladies on the Advanced Style blog.

Ruth is a woman to be so admired. How exciting to live life this way. I truly admire all these women you have on your blog Ari and I have been watching your videos on Vimeo and am so inspired by them. In fact, I have to say that every time I come to your blog, I leave here so full of hope and excitement about life. Thanks Ari. Have a great rest of the week. Regards to beautiful Ruth and a Happy Birthday to her soon to be 100th. I hope you will post something about it, that would be fun. Take care.

Proof that reaching a century doesn't mean that you stop being noticed (or wanting to be noticed) with your style.

Great inspiration and a lovely sounding lady.

I love the advice to "get up and go, just do it". So many of us create all these obstacles to living a full and happy life. Happy Birthday to you Ruth! You are beautiful and have given us all priceless advice on life. Enjoy Bermuda!!

I just found your site through 'Improvised Life' and its such a joy to have a site where the fashion interests of older women are acknowledged. Though I would probably never dress as fabulously as some of these women, I love the 'Sartorialist' approach and hope you will continue to do more like this, such as Ruth's portrait, among others.

I've sent the link to your site to at least a dozen friends - I know they'll love it too.

I like to feature both classic and eccentric people and don't want to limit it to one kind of style. I photograph who ever I come across who is full of life and style!

I saw Willard Scott announce her 100th birthday on the Today Show this morning. I was so excited that I recognized her.
