Tziporah and Debra

Here is a quick view of two of New York's most stylish and innovative women, Tziporah and Debra.I have been an admirer of Tziporah Salamon's for a long time and just recently found the perfect opportunity to meet with her. A few weeks ago Tziporah was sent a link to a post I had done on Debra and was immediately struck by her style and creativity. She emailed her right away and they have been in contact ever since. The other day I had the chance to get together with these two wonderful ladies to sit down and discuss the healing power of style and how fashion should be fun and expressive,as Mimi Weddell used to say, " It lifts you up from this earth".Debra and Tziporah dress up because it makes them feel good and they can express themselves and share their art and creativity with the world around them. These woman are the true fashion icons, truly original, strong in their identity and willing to share their gifts with others.

Thanks sooo much for this blog, and showing how much a bit of personality in dress can color and liven up good living! xo. Bella Q

These women are incredible times two - no, that's not enough; their fabulousness just multiplies and multiplies! Makes me so happy to see them.

I always look forward to your posts, but this one made my heart beat faster. I will revisit this page.

Do you know that feeling, when you feel a bit outcast and uninspired, and then you see something that hits you like a bolt from the blue and you realise that you just need to look in the right place to find exactly the right inspiration? That's how I felt when I saw these photos.

Many thanks.

Excuse me if I'm rude, but I get the feeling that noone runs around like this at all. Maybe the women have are playing a little practical joke at your expense and to our bemused viewing pleasure?

Hi Miss Janet,
These wonderful ladies are kindred spirits and dressed like this way before they met me. You can look up Tziporah in NY Times and see photos of her in theri archives. In fact I dont ever stage any photos. This afternoon we were discussing how Tziporah and Debra both have really come into their own as they have gotten older. They feel free to take risks without worrying about being judged and dress to make themselves feel good. I hope you enjoy them.

Best

We adore your blog! It's Draper's & Damon's new favorite. More, more, more!

I had to step away and get air. I love their style, but they are both so artistic and style seems to come easy for them. So I'm interested in how they can help us folks who may not be so stylish. I want some tips I can put in use each day. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them right on the blog. I really think they should do a video and give a few tips, since I can't get to New York for consulting services. Thanks so much for presenting all of these lovely people on your blog. This is truly fascinating.

Wow Drapers and Damons, that was my grandma Bluma's favorite store. We would go there when she wanted something fancy. We should do an ad together!

Oh wow, these two look stunning. Love all that detail in the patterned jacket/top. Love your blog, Ari.

I'm so glad to have been the instrument of Tziporah and Debra getting together (it was me who sent Tziporah the post about Debra in the first place). As a longtime friend of Tzipi's I can attest she dresses "like this" - creatively, colorfully, super-stylishly every single day, every time she leaves the house, come rain or come shine (or even snow), and she can help you dress more creatively too - for a very reasonable consultation fee. I had her go through my closet with me and it was a lot of fun and great confidence-booster.

Oh this is wonderful. I just wrote a blog post the other day about how older women are invisible in POETRYWORLD. Hurrah for you and these women!

Hello Ari,
thank you for answering my comment. To clarify my oringinal text; I'm not saying that you are staging this pictures, but the two women are. Clearly going for hilarious and over the top. Not that here is anything wrong with that, I just can't make this pictures fit into the context of your usual postings. This is a dress up party.

Greetings
MissJanet

I apologize for interrupting, but since this is an open forum... I don't think this IS a "dress up party" in the way you seem to imply, Miss Janet. Judging by the many previous posts of Debra, this is the creative way in which she always puts herself together.

And thank goodness for her! Tziporah, too!

MissJanet,
I think it's so sad that you don't see people dressing in outrageous beautiful clothes everyday! It makes me feel lucky that I do!

MissJanet is right: there ist a difference between style and sillyness. Those clothes are ridiculess.

Ari said...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. These women wear what makes them feel good and I applause them for that. I hope we all can have as much fun as them.
Let's not attack eachothers opinions or styles. This blog is about celebration!

Amen.

MISSJANET said...

I don't know if you want to add to the discussion, but I would really like to add that I don't think that Debra and Tziporah look ridiculous.

Thank you, Ari!

Miss Janet, since Tzipi is a friend and client, I can vouch for the fact that there is a group of people in NYC who actually have their own unique take on style. We don't consider it any different than you all in whatever you wear. Please believe that there is imagination out there in the world, and some of us implement it. Everyday, in everyway.

These ladies are beautiful inside and out, full of creativity, joy, color, life! They remind me of Anna Piaggi, a style icon, who I met many times in the past in Milan, always above and beyond...good for them!

I love their quirky and original style. It's so important to dress for you and not for fashion. I have to agree with Brillante Home Decor, so much like Anna Piaggi! I love your blog, am definitely following you <3

Loved this blog. I met Tziporah after seeing her on her bike on the UWS. Each time I saw her, I thought, "that could be me, if I had the gumption to dress as I wished!!" I did meet her and hosted her one woman show, THE FABRIC OF MY LIFE in my apartment, which was fabulous! I highly recommend that readers check out her site at http://tziporahsalamon.com/. Ari, love your website!
