I went to see the exhibit twice at the Peabody Essex museum and was very inspired. I highly recommend the book "Rare Bird of Fashion" that accompanies the exhibit. You can find more about Iris over on my blog.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog--I've been a fan of yours for a while. Along with Debra from your blog, Iris Apfel is one of my style inspirations for my "silver-haired years" I love her comment that "getting dressed in the morning should be a creative expression"
Iris is a real icon- what a wonderful, youthful spirit she is! Her style, attitude and vision are quite unique. This video really moved and inspired me. Thank you for sharing.
She's delightful! Thank you for posting this. I think I am going to print out her quote to hang in my closet: "The fun of getting dressed is that it's a creative experience... Have fun with it!" Love that.
Thank you so much for this. I love how deeply respectful she is in this video of the cultures she's drawn to. So often, I hear wealthy white people say condescending things about the "simplicity" of tribal wear, and she is deeply admiring of the sophistication and architectural qualities. So refreshing.
